The blueblack skinned fruit packs an acidic punch in its juicy yellow flesh and is not too good to eat raw. br Once cooked it makes the best jams and jellies and is also a very popular filling for pies and crumbles. br A reliable tree that produces small white flowers in early April and a good heavy crop of fruit ready for picking in late AugustSeptember. The Merryweather Damson tree is a self pollinating variety. The Merryweather Damson tree has received the Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
