Recommended for those who wish to alternate with a 3.0 tog or 4.5 tog silk filled duvet for summer use. The silk floss in this duvet does not bunch under normal use. This eliminates the need for pocket stitching and ensures a much more even warmth than conventional duvet fillings. Silk filled duvets are a luxury that has been appreciated by the higher echelons of Chinese and Japanese society for generations. Silk has a warm in winter, cool in summer quality that ensures that you are much less likely to overheat under a suitable chosen weight of silk filled duvet. Silk is also naturally hypoallergenic, unlike feathers, down and wool, it is inhospitable to dust mites which means that it is a great alternative for allergy sufferers; it helps relieve itching caused by skin conditions such as eczema and is of positive help to sufferers of arthritis and asthma. Once you have experienced the pleasure of sleeping under a soft, light and luxurious silk filled duvet you will never want to sleep under anything else. Cleaning Silk filled duvets are not washable but can be specialist cleaned although this should not be necessary under normal use. Is It Organic It is not currently possible to obtain organic silk filled duvets. We have been advised by a leading organic textiles expert that no one is making a duvet filled with organic silk and encased in organic cotton at the moment. These duvets are not organic but they are produced in a chemical free way. The silk is only treated using boiling water and the cotton casing is bleached using peroxide rather than chlorine bleach.
