Fairtrade requires companies to pay a fair and sustainable price (never below the market rate) for trade in the developing world. It guarantees better prices, decent working conditions and local sustainability for farmers and workers. Conventional trade can be unjust and traditionally discriminates against the poorest producers in “third world” and developing countries.

Fairtrade helps farmers and workers to have more control over their lives and improve their position.

The Fairtrade Foundation certifies products against internationally agreed Fairtrade standards, allowing them to carry the the FAIRTRADE Mark. This is an independent consumer label which can appear on UK products as listed below:
